If you want to experience nature on your own terms, then the Not Quite Roughing It Weekend is for you. Stay at a luxurious bed and breakfast, sleep in a comfortable bed with soft sheets, then wake up to a delicious gourmet breakfast before hitting the trails. After spending the day communing with nature and enjoying the spectacular scenery, come back to the Wildflower for some of the best pizza in Arkansas with live music entertainment.
That’s what we mean when we say “Not Quite Roughing It Weekend.”
Your guide will be veteran hiker and outdoors person Tori Plunkett. Tori is an experienced hiker who has explored trails all over Arkansas. She is an experienced multi-day hiker and expedition leader. With her expertise, this hiking adventure will be safe and enjoyable to hikers of all levels of experience. Tori is also the founder and leader of Arkansas Wilderness Ministry.
On Saturday, April 9th, the first leg will start at Barkshed recreation area. The group will then hike the four mile trail to Gunner Pool state recreation area. This will be a semi-rough hike with some elevations. Waiting for you will be a delicious picnic lunch with smoked meats and cheeses from Mikey’s deli. For those who wish to return to the Wildflower, you can then catch a ride back.
For those who challenge themselves to continue on, the five-mile second leg will follow the trail to Blanchard Springs. Sweeping scenic views will be a great reward for those who take on the second leg. There will be hiking along high bluff lines, something to be taken into consideration for those who have a fear of heights.
While trekking poles are optional, you must have good hiking shoes or boots. You should also bring a day pack with a water source. Bottled water is available at the Wildflower.
After your hike, return to the Wildflower for an evening of relaxation and entertainment. Enjoy some of Tommy’s Famous Pizza, a locally owned, award winning pizzeria. While you rest and eat, be entertained by some local musicians playing live in our dining room.
What a great weekend to get away and experience nature while not quite roughing it. For only $50 plus room rate ($90 for a couple), participants get gourmet breakfasts every day, a picnic lunch with take-home cooler bag, and Tommy’s Famous Pizza for dinner on Saturday evening.
